Edward Zegarra, PhD
Edward Zegarra holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the State University of New York at Binghamton and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida, having attended both schools on full scholarship. He is an elected member of the Institute of Andean Studies at the University of California at Berkeley, owing to his applied research at the ruins of the capital city of the first Andean empire (Wari, AD 600–1000). His dissertation focused on mitigating multifaceted threats to a world-class heritage site and established international partnerships between and among Peruvian and American institutions, providing a blueprint for a truly sustainable cultural heritage site management program in one of the most relegated regions of Peru.
Edward is the founder of Partnerships for Patrimony and the co-founder of Westwood Press. His approach to editing, publishing, and life in general are grounded in collaboration and tailored communications designed to encourage intellectualism and cross-cultural understanding. He grew up in South Florida and Los Angeles, California as a first generation U.S. citizen of Chilean and Peruvian ancestry.
